Responsible for assisting the Director of Donor Research/Annual Fund with the management and oversight of development research functions for major gifts and the campaign, including support of the President’s Office and front-line fundraising offices of the National Trust.
Duties
-
Perform all duties with the aim of helping to achieve the National Trust's strategic goals, including engaging the public and reaching more diverse communities and constituents, as well as building partnerships and increasing financial independence.

Assist with management of the research team, as well as mentor and set the direction for the team, reflecting the priorities of the Resources Development Department. Assist with setting and implementing policies and procedures to facilitate the operation of the Research Office and requests from the Resources Development Department, President’s Office and Regional Offices. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Research Office.

Lead the research team in the provision of detailed biographical and financial research on individuals, foundations, and corporations as requested by development staff and other National Trust staff consistent with development priorities.

Help lead analysis of existing donor base in identifying high priority segments and help lead effort to identify new prospects capable of major gifts.

Work with development colleagues to oversee the preparation of donor strategies and staff briefing notes for special events.

Work closely with development staff to insure upkeep of the database to support effective cultivation and stewardship of donors.

May assist Director of Donor Research with prospect management and development of major gift pipeline.

May serve in the Director’s stead as needed or on the management team of the Resources Development Department.
Qualifications

4-6 years of experience in research, administration and development in a nonprofit organization required

Experience researching and engaging culturally diverse donors, and fundraising for diverse projects a plus.

Strong computer skills and knowledge of on-line research resources are necessary.

Must be detail oriented with solid writing, proofing and editing skills. Prior supervisory experience preferred.

B.A. or B.S. required.

Able to provide wealth analyses, conduct comprehensive research and produce in-depth prospect profiles.

Previous campaign and prospect development experience desirable.

Requires ability to work as part of a team with all levels of staff.
