MAC Cosmetics/MAC AIDS Fund - Director of Americas Programs and Grants Management

The Director of the Americas Programs works closely with the Vice President of the Fund to set the strategic direction of and implement core and special grant making programs in the Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Work in partnership with the Vice President of the Fund, consultants, and experts in the HIV/AIDS field to develop budgets, funding strategy, strategic focus, and priorities for all core grant making programs and special initiatives in Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
  • Work with the Executive Director to manage and oversee all grants management activities for the Americas portfolio, including coordination of the proposal review process, review of grant applications/proposals, making funding recommendations, and reviewing grantee progress reports.
  • Manage the Affiliate Community Grants Program in Latin America working in close partnership with country Brand Managers throughout the region to identify non-profit partners, process grant applications, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Monitor quarterly revenue and donation plans and work with individual Brand Managers to develop annual giving budgets and implement donation plans.
  • Work with the Executive Director and consultants to develop and manage special initiatives and public/private partnerships in key geographies including Canada, Jamaica, and Brazil.
  • Manage and coordinate the creation of all materials for MAF’s Board of Directors related to the Americas grant making portfolio and activities including a quarterly grants overview document, a bi-annual key accomplishments document, and a quarterly grants docket that is presented to the Board for review and approval.
  • Monitor the implementation of MAF grants and perform site visits to potential and current grantees to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of MAF supported programs.
  • Oversee the preparation of internal and external reports and surveys related to MAF’s Americas grant making activities in coordination MAF leadership.
  • Develop and draft grant-making guidelines, progress reports, award and decline letters, and request for proposals for all initiatives in North America, the Caribbean and Latin America.
  • Participate in HIV/AIDS and related funders meetings, work groups and conferences to deepen knowledge of field and seek strategic opportunities for partnerships and collaborations in targeted areas with an emphasis on underserved and under resourced populations and geographic locations.
  • Represent MAF at conferences, briefings and convenings of the HIV/AIDS and general philanthropic field, funders affinity groups and meetings, site visits of grantees and prospective grantees, and through ongoing communication and contact with organizations and key external stakeholders including peer funders and leading national and local organizations.
  • Work with consultants to conduct research to identify emerging issues and trends in the HIV/AIDS arena in select geographies and use information to set funding priorities and create new grants programs.
  • Oversee the tracking of all Americas grants and grants related activities in Cybegrants, and work with MAF staff to ensure the quality consistency, and integrity of the information maintained in Cybergrants.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of 8 + years of experience in the philanthropic, nonprofit and/or public health fields with a minimum of 4 years of philanthropic grantmaking experience
  • Regional experience working at the country level and/or experience working with HIV/AIDS programs preferred
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally

  • Proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese strongly preferred
