Funding Exchange - Administrator/Board Consultant
The Funding Exchange (FEX) is a growing network of 16 public foundations and a national office that together grant nearly $15 million annually to grassroots organizations working for social, racial, economic and environmental justice. We are committed to the eradication of all social injustices. Through our innovative, activist-led grantmaking strategies, we support the systemic change work of both experienced and developing grassroots organizations within the broad movement for social justice.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experienced manager with at least 10 years experience in non-profit management, board development, problem solving and planning.
- Strong financial management expertise.
- Understanding of administrative systems that are practical and functional
- Working knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to nonprofit management, and ability to implement technical advice.
- Ability to work within a multi-cultural democratic management structure/culture with people from a variety of different backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written. Capable of being both direct and compassionate in interpersonal communications.
- Organized, creative, curious, strategic, and financially astute.
- Sense of humor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support operations and administration of the Board, which includes:
- Participating in Executive Committee meetings.
- Oversight of task force work, timeline
- Ensuring that the Board and Board Committees have appropriate administrative support.
- Administration, Records & Systems Management
- Financial systems oversight
- Office Leadership including serving as a liaison between staff and board
- Oversee production of reports to various stakeholders.
- Facilitate the Board’s development of transition plans for the organization and preparations for the next permanent Executive Director. Work with the Board and staff to implement the plans.
- Assure the organization and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in strong, positive images to relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee the implementation of internal financial controls and ensure the organization’s compliance with applicable laws and prudent accounting practices.
- Engage Board and staff in fundraising during the transition period.
Hours and remuneration
- Work 15-20 hours a week with a set schedule; preferably several hours each day
- The position duration is 2 to 4 months
- Pay between $100 to $120 per hour based on based on experience
