Rubicon Programs - Employment Specialist, (TEMP)

The mission of Rubicon Programs Inc. is to create and deliver integrated solutions to profound social problems. We empower people to move out of poverty and improve their quality of life. Rubicon’s programs include workforce services, behavioral healthcare, case management, affordable housing, and legal services.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Employment Specialist reports to the Workforce Services Manager and develops job placements for economically disadvantaged adults.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible work experience in job development and placement of special populations; AA degree desirable. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate: a) working knowledge of best practices for assisting disabled, homeless and/or economically disadvantaged populations, b) hands on familiarity with successful marketing tools and techniques for placing special populations including sharing success stories re the same;
  2. Success in this position requires that the incumbent interact effectively with internal and external customers. Interpersonal flexibility; independence; strong networking, negotiating and problem solving abilities; and excellent oral and written communication skills, (including delivering formal presentations), are critical qualifications for this position; bilingual English/Spanish or English/Cantonese proficiency desired;
  3. Proof of a valid and current driver license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. * Job placements: Includes surveying the community labor market, networking, developing employer contacts and referral sources, marketing services, making placements and providing post-placement support to clients and employers; involves driving to various sites throughout the community;
  2. Participate in case conferences and community meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

HOURS: This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt position.
HIRING RANGE: $16.95 to $18.65 per hour, depending on skills and experience. An additional 5% of salary may be granted for proven English/Spanish or English/Cantonese bilingual proficiency.
