Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio (CCAOSA) is the largest non-profit, faith-based agency in the seventh largest city of the country. The Immigration Department works tirelessly to assist the low-income immigrant- with a special emphasis on those who have been victims of crime, domestic violence and human trafficking. CCAOSA seeks a full-time, grant-paid attorney to expand its legal assistance to immigrant victims in San Antonio and Central Texas.
Job Summary: Oversees newly funded STAR (Serving Together Achieves Results) Program which consists of working with the local shelter targeting victims of domestic violence, crime, and human trafficking. Also spearheads attorney CLE and BIA Accredited Representative trainings in Central Texas.
Essential Job Functions:
- Spearheads pro bono recruitment and retention for STAR cases;
- Contacts shelter and coordinates their participation;
- Markets program;
- Coordinates logistics for all trainings including travel, site location, and coordination of volunteers/staff;
- Responsible for overseeing all client files opened as part of this project;
- Documents all activities in record and establishes and maintains permanent files;
- Maintains the database of all activities related to this project;
- Prepares client testimonials and supplemental evidence as necessary;
- Researches and writes memos on various immigration topics;
- Compiles statistical reports including tables and text;
- Assists in completing required reports for funding source or other entities;
- Supervises and approves work of staff and volunteers;
- Fully participates in all Department-sponsored functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of/training in immigration law preferred;
- Knowledge of modern office procedures and business communication;
- Skill in using a personal computer and various software packages including proficiency with LawLogix system (training provided);
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and supervise;
- Ability to handle and resolve problems and work under stress;
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
Credentials and Experience:
- JD Required;
- Two years related experience preferred.
