Staten Island Museum - Chief Operating Officer
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and serving as a key advisor, the COO will be responsible for enhancing and supervising the internal organization processes and infrastructure necessary to support the Museum's $22 million capital expansion currently underway at the Snug Harbor Campus on Staten Island. In addition, the COO will be responsible for managing the integration of strategic planning initiatives across all Museum divisions, and for ensuring both horizontal and vertical communication among the various Museum constituencies, both within and without the organization.
The COO will oversee the day to day operations of the Museum including:
- All administrative functions
- Technology systems
- Human resources, including volunteers
- Financial management, plus legal and regulatory compliance
- Earned revenue, including membership development and marketing
Responsibilities will include the following supervision of the core operations: - Staffing needs per site, interdepartmental communication,
office systems, employee evaluations, etc.
- Review of staffing requirements/job descriptions in light of Museum expansion.
- Establishment of a volunteer and intern program and recruitment process.
- Oversight and cost benefit analysis of all current and future contracts, leases and insurance.
- Supervision of the implementation of all financial plans, business policies, management and accounting controls.
- Oversight and ongoing evaluation of revenue streams towards enhanced, new and diverse sources of income.
- Expansion and broadening of membership base.
- Serve as staff liaison with Board of Trustees as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred
- Minimum six years experience in a supervisory/management position Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Experience with and understanding of basic accounting principles
- Team player
- Highly computer and web literate Valid driver's license.
