The grant writer is responsible for drafting LOIs, grant proposals, updates, progress reports, written and online funding applications, and other descriptive materials, working in close cooperation with Development and Program colleagues. The Grant Writer may also be called upon to conduct prospect research and maintain a calendar of proposal and reporting deadlines. The position requires a bachelor's degree and 3-4 years of professional writing experience. Previous experience as a grant writer for a non-profit organization is desirable. Outstanding written and oral communications skills and the ability to write clear, structured, and persuasive proposals are mandatory.
The successful candidate must be outgoing and poised, attentive to detail, organized, able to work independently while juggling multiple projects and deadlines, and above all, a team player. S/he must be able to work under pressure, be Internet savvy and experienced with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
