Reports To: Associate Director, Individual Giving & Events
Status: Full-Time, Regular, Exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Development Associate, Individual Giving & Special Events, reports directly to the Associate Director, Individual Giving & Events, and will support the Associate Director in the development and management of StoryCorps’ individual giving function. In 2013, the Senior Associate will be heavily involved in planning and executing events related to StoryCorps’ upcoming 10th Anniversary. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in individual giving, with a focus on event planning and coordination.
StoryCorps records, shares, and preserves stories from a diverse range of American voices — from our Griot Initiative to preserve stories of African Americans, to our Historias Initiative to collect the experiences of Latinos. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Giving
-
Manage Stewardship of all donors under $1000
-
Work with the Associate Director of Individual Giving & Events to identify and upgrade individuals into major donors

Manage Participant Donations including training and incentivizing of all Facilitators, tracking against goals, and reporting on progress

Manage communication and solicitation of StoryCorps alumni

Formalize proper donor database procedures for Individual Donors programs and oversee the Development Coordinator on the implementation of new processes

Research all individual giving donors and oversee the proper tracking of Prospect research with the Development Coordinator

Coordinate VIP Interviews

Manage planned giving
Special Events
-
Manage all cultivation, membership, and marketing events

Assist in the management and execution of the Annual Gala

Manage all department expenses and budgets related to special events
-
Recruit and supervise event staff, coordinate team workflow and priorities, and coordinate the team’s collaboration with other departments.

Develop metrics to monitor team performance against goals
-
Ensure that fundraising actions are tracked and recorded in donor database
-
Manage all logistics for events, including facilities, transportation, contracts, seating charts
-
Supervise event staff and volunteers at events
-
Create and produce event program and run of show

Oversee sourcing and management of all event vendors

Direct creation and management of event logistics, including: event timelines, production schedules, and day-of schedules

Perform other duties to support the External Communications function, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree
-
3-4 year Experience working in Development and Events
-
Strong organizational and project management skills; adept at working under tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously

Proficiency utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite and a donor management software system such as Raiser’s Edge
-
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Exceptional attention to detail
-
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to contribute to problem-solving activities within a growing, changing organization

Ability to travel (approximately 6 times per year, for 2-3 days per trip)

Cultural competence and the ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people
Preferred:

Experience in training, especially donations training
-
Proficiency on a Mac platform
