ACCOUNTABILITY: The Haste House Resident Manager reports to Rubicon’s Program Manager for Social Services and serves as the on-site contact for issues related to property maintenance, tenant compliance with program rules and neighborhood standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One-two years of relevant work experience in an affordable housing environment required, experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders desirable; high school diploma or GED preferred;
- Hands-on familiarity with general preventive and corrective maintenance work;
- Interpersonal flexibility, strong teamwork, effective communication, customer service and negotiating skills and the ability to work successfully with minimal supervision are required; bilingual English/Spanish proficiency desirable;
- Haste House is a "clean and sober" residence and the purpose of this position is to ensure that a clean and sober living situation is maintained at all times. As such it is necessary that the resident manager maintain a clean and sober living situation within his/her personal quarters and while on duty but s/he is otherwise free to engage in all lawful activities while s/he is not working;
- Proof of a valid and current driver license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Oversight of property maintenance includes interacting with tenants to ensure upkeep of common areas and identifying and reporting maintenance and repair needs to property management personnel or Rubicon’s Facilities Manager as appropriate;
- Oversight of resident compliance with house/program rules and neighborhood standards: Includes putting systems into effect to monitor resident chores and curfews; receiving, handling, and if necessary, escalating tenant complaints to the Haste House Case Manager.
*Note: Responsibilities include timely and appropriate documentation of incidents and issues, monthly reporting and ongoing communication with the Haste House Case Manager and Social Services Program Manager. Other relevant and related duties may be assigned. This position requires driving to and from Rubicon’s Berkeley and Richmond offices.
HOURS: This is a part-time, non-exempt position which also requires on-call** availability:

Sunday
On Call 12 AM – 6 PM and 9 PM - Midnight, and On Duty 6 PM – 9 PM
Monday/Tuesday
On Call 12 AM – 8 AM and 9 PM - Midnight
Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday
12 AM – 8 AM and 9 PM - Midnight, and On Duty 6 PM – 9 PM
**On call availability means that the incumbent must:
- Carry a cell phone, which is turned on and within a cell phone reception area at all times
- Be able to return job-related calls within 30 minutes
- Be able to return to the Haste House within 2 hours
COMPENSATION: This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The rate of pay is $10.00/hour and will include rent and utilities. An additional 5% of pay may be granted for proven English/Spanish bilingual proficiency. Please note that on-call time is not compensable.
