The Program Director (PD) will oversee development and advancement of the higher education opportunities for Iraqi women who will participate in Operation Think Pink's (OTP) Bint al-Iraq program and future educational programs in Afghanistan.
Job responsibilities incude:
- Actively leads and participates in OTP's educational advancement and partnership activities in the furtherance of OTP's vision of empowering Middle Eastern women to become responsible leaders in their countries.
- Networks nationally and internationally for advancement of OTP's mission and serves as liaison to leading institutions and programs working for education and leadership.
- Maintains relationships with international partner organizations, major donors, foundations, and governmental agencies.
- Lead spokesperson for OTP working with relevant stakeholders including media, educational institutions, corporations, and grassroots organizations.
- Integrates the work of OTP with international organizations to provide research and academic opportunities for faculty and students; and, the PD secures and promotes public programs that educate and connect local communities to the larger issues of higher education as a process of human development.
- Serves as the lead fundraiser and oversees the management of grants and the endowment budget for OTP projects and programs.
- Enhances OTP's capacities as a respected organization linking education, leadership, and research in international conflict resolution and in promotion of human security as core peace building activities inspired by founder, Suzanne Lesko.
- Reports to the founder and board of directors of the OTP.
- Oversees all OTP administrative staff and visiting OTP scholars, and provides oversight for the intern, volunteer, and work-study programs.
- Directly supervises San Diego fundraising, the PD Baghdad Operations, the Event/Intern Program Officer (PO) and the Executive Assistant/Office Manager (EA).
Qualifications: M.A. or equivalent experience in international fundraising/negotiations; 5+ years practice as human security or education specialist with governmental, intergovernmental, or nongovernmental organization. Recognized leader with some university level teaching or administration preferred. Arabic/English speaker highly desirable.
Salary: Commensurate with Experience; Excellent Benefits. This is an exempt position and will require the hours necessary to complete the mission. "Seed funding in-process" - must be willing to volunteer prior to being considered
