GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Volunteers Services Manager is responsible for all aspects of the volunteer program; operations, construction and ReStore. This includes the recruitment, processing, education, retention and coordination of all Habitat volunteers, including construction, committee, and office volunteers. Promoting teamwork and fostering motivation and understanding are important components of the job description.
The Volunteers Services Manager oversees the coordination of Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Program with the Executive Director. The Volunteers Services Manager is also the AmeriCorps program manager and performs the hiring, orientation, appreciation, reporting and other tasks for each year’s AmeriCorps team. The position works closely with all staff members and volunteers to create a positive and productive atmosphere for volunteers.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Program
-
Coordinate written informational and educational materials for volunteer outreach. Materials will be produced in conjunction with the PR and marketing consultants.

Respond to all individual volunteer inquiries
-
Assist Director of Homeowner Relations and Scheduler to effectively schedule volunteers to meet the volunteer needs of construction staff
-
Interview and place volunteers for specific needs such as committee, office and special events
-
Implement and coordinate ReStore volunteer program and place volunteers as needed.

Maintain volunteer records, statistics, and the Access volunteer database
-
Develop and implement formal and informal volunteer appreciation program
-
Develop, maintain and evaluate “regular” construction volunteer programs to retain on-going volunteers
-
Conduct monthly orientations for volunteers
-
Monitor and assess the need for volunteer services and suggest program improvements.
-
Prepare job descriptions for volunteer positions
-
Monitor volunteer satisfaction
-
Ensure that volunteer liability waivers are signed and filed
-
Work with staff to handle any volunteer concerns or issues
-
Maintain Volunteer Manual
-
Manage community service volunteers from local jurisdictions
-
Coordinate activities for youth volunteers (Boy/Girl Scouts, etc.)
-
With Director of Homeowner Relations and Scheduling, recruit, train, and schedule site hosts
Committees
-
Provide training materials, procedures and current information to all Habitat committees
-
Maintain communication and provide support to committee chairs
-
Hold annual committee chair meeting and provide training as needed
-
Work with staff liaisons to ensure productive committees that provide a meaningful experience for volunteers
-
Serve as staff liaison to Speaker’s Bureau and work closely with Director of Development on speaker’s bureau messaging and training.
AmeriCorps Program
-
Manage AmeriCorps program
-
Interview and hire AmeriCorps team members
-
Develop, evaluate and implement program including orientation, appreciation, trainings, retreat(s), meetings and record-keeping systems for members
-
Ensure that members have a positive experience with MHfH
-
Provide documentation, complete reports and work cooperatively with Habitat*AmeriCorps and the Corporation for National Service
-
Attend annual 3 day national orientation for new members
Youth United
- Oversee Youth United Program
- Recruit Chair of program/ Function as chair if none available
- Recruit adult and youth volunteers.
- Guide all aspects of program: fundraising, construction, education, outreach and publicity.
Other
-
Work closely with sponsors, HFHI and other organizations on special projects and builds

Represent Habitat to the community through community presentations
-
Establish and maintain effective relationships with sponsors, HFHI, and the community
-
Supervise volunteers in the office who assist with data entry, thank-you’s and other tasks to support the volunteer department
-
Contribute to newsletter for volunteer related articles
-
Assist staff members in appreciation efforts for office volunteers
-
Evaluate participating in booths and fairs on a case by case basis.

Other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director or Director of Operations

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

BA/BS Degree
-
2 years experience in the field of volunteer management or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
This position is primarily performed at a desk in the office. Outside meetings and presentations are frequently required. Some evening and week-end meetings required in locations and times when public transportation is unavailable. Occasional special projects.

Most of work is performed at a desk, sometimes for long periods of time
