Pro Bono Partnership - Director of Marketing and Communications

Pro Bono Partnership, Inc. seeks a talented and experienced marketing and communications professional to create and execute initiatives aimed at marketing the Partnership's services to its primary audiences: nonprofit clients, volunteer attorneys, volunteers' employers, and funders. With the assistance of a dedicated Director of Marketing and Communications, Pro Bono Partnership plans to expand further its business and transactional legal services to nonprofit organizations serving the disadvantaged or enhancing the quality of life in neighborhoods in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating Pro Bono Partnership's marketing and communications functions, assuming significant responsibility for initiatives aimed at increasing the organization's name recognition and visibility among key audiences and encouraging action steps by such audiences.
  • Preparing and implementing an annual marketing plan, including activities to support the organization's strategic planning goals and program priorities.
  • Working with legal staff to provide fresh and compelling content on the Partnership's website at www.probonopartnership.org; coordinating website updates, functionality, and promotion and overseeing the presentation of this information on the website.
  • Developing, laying out, and distributing electronic communications through Constant Contact, Outlook, social media sites, and other outlets, including ongoing and targeted emails and legal alerts.
  • Writing, editing, and overseeing the production of newsletter, brochures, advertisements, marketing kit, and other printed materials. Managing marketing vendor relationships.
  • Preparing criteria to measure effectiveness of marketing and communications plan and using such criteria and evaluation tools to monitor progress and make appropriate refinements.
  • Working with program staff to strategize about client outreach and volunteer attorney recruitment, create relevant materials, and pursue effective opportunities.
  • Partnering with development staff to hone marketing components of fundraising communications, proposals, and events, including event invitations and programs.
  • Ensuring the use of consistent design standards, messages, and terminology across organization's different communications.
  • Creating and analyzing data from periodic surveys of nonprofit organizations, volunteer attorneys, and funders to further programmatic and fundraising objectives.
  • Planning and supporting Pro Bono Partnership's volunteer recognition activities.
  • Promoting the Partnership's workshops, webinars, publications, and other educational programs, and coordinating production of any new or revised printed publications.
  • Assisting in generating publicity and media coverage of organization's programs, events, expertise, and accomplishments.
  • Maintaining inventory of marketing materials and reviewing publicly available materials published by other organizations.
  • Reporting to Executive Director and performing additional marketing and communications tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications include bachelor's degree plus at least five years of pertinent experience, including substantial writing and editing of effective marketing and web materials. Must be a good public speaker. Familiarity with the nonprofit and/or legal sector is preferred. Ideal candidate is able to work independently and with diverse constituencies, is highly organized, detail-oriented and self-directed, and has a strong visual and design sense. Quality computer and communications skills are essential. The position involves significant multi-tasking and coordinating a variety of people, messages, and audiences.
