Year Up - Grants Analyst
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Grants Analyst position is responsible for providing financial guidance and support to our local and National fundraising professionals across Year Up’s multiple program sites, regarding grant and contract policies and procedures, compliance and regulatory issues, and post award administration. The ideal candidate must demonstrate an advanced knowledge and understanding of federal and non-federal regulations, guidelines, and policies covering grant and contract processes. S/he must have a working knowledge of post award accounting and financial reporting, performing internal audits of grants and contracts to ensure compliance with funding agency requirements. In addition to supporting the National office, the successful candidate will support internal constituents located in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, New York City, Providence, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, DC using exemplary customer service, relationship building and communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre Award
-
Interact with development and program staff as a resource for budget and contract proposals
-
Review and administer policies and financial terms and conditions of unique grants or contracts including budgets, time and effort requirements, agency reporting, and grant closing procedures. These procedures include determination of restricted and conditional grants at time of grant awards or upon receipt of payment.

Monitor, track and adjust cost projections at sites as needed
Post Award
-
Maintain financial accounting for grants and contracts including documentation, compliance, and reporting requirements from all sites

Assure Compliance with federal and state financial and legal requirements
-
Monitoring costs post award, adjusting and consulting with sites
-
Monitor payroll allocations for tracking all grants and contracts to maintain maximum efficiency of financial processes and accurate tracking

Maintain reporting systems utilizing MIP accounting and Salesforce, in conjunction with grants/contracts administrative requirements

Reconcile financial discrepancies between Development and Accounting (Salesforce and MIP) systems by researching and correcting variances
Reporting
-
Prepare invoices and reimbursement packages for requesting funds from funders
-
Prepare and file all reports required of selected grants. Gather and analyze all necessary supporting documents to support reimbursement requests
Additional Duties
-
Prepare GL schedules as part of monthly close process including determination of monthly releases

Prepare monthly journal entries related to adjustments and releases

Assist in planning and preparation for A-133 Audit

Recommend policies and procedures to improve grant processing infrastructure

Develop internal controls that can be implemented across sites

Work on various special projects as assigned by Director of Budgeting and Financial Reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Proficiency in advanced Excel
-
Experience with Salesforce and MIP is preferable

Candidate possesses thorough understanding of GAAP, internal control systems, OMB A-110, A-21, A-122 and A-133 circulars

Bachelor's degree in Accounting
-
At least four years’ experience in accounting, fund accounting, revenue accounting and non profit accounting (foundation accounting preferable)

Experience preparing budget and financial reports

Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
