Corporation for Supportive Housing - Research Assistant

The Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) is a national, nonprofit organization that helps communities create permanent housing with services to prevent and end homelessness. CSH advances its mission by providing high-quality advice and development expertise, by making loans and grants to supportive housing sponsors, by strengthening the supportive housing industry, and by reforming public policy to make it easier to create and operate supportive housing. CSH delivers its core services primarily through staff stationed in 21 locations nationally. CSH also operates targeted initiatives and capacity building efforts in many other communities.

Job Description

CSH is seeking to fill a Research Assistant position to carry out several activities in support of our efforts to integrate supportive housing with health and health care services through the Social Innovation Fund. Ideal candidates will be a recent bachelors or masters level graduate from an accredited university preferably with a focus on housing, human services, community or public health, or government policy. CSH seeks individuals who have an entrepreneurial spirit and are organized, efficient, and eager to learn. This is a half time contractual position with a negotiated hourly stipend. Travel to project sites, when necessary, will be reimbursed. This position is located in Hartford, CT.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Health and Housing Senior Program Manager of the Connecticut Program, the work of research assistant will support the Social Innovation Fund, part of Connecticut program’s efforts to expand the integration of health and health care services into supportive housing. Among the tasks the person in this position will be responsible for:

  • Conducting multi-methods field research (observational, survey and documentation).
  • Conducting comprehensive literature reviews of the evidence base and current best practices for a range of relevant topics.
  • Assisting with the production of reports, summaries, and various products to disseminate emerging evidence from the Social Innovation Fund.
  • Assisting with the training and support of supportive housing staff in the field in documentation and program compliance.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including correspondence and communication with CSH partners

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and a commitment to treating others with respect:

  • A bachelors degree, masters degree preferred, from an accredited university, preferably with a focus on housing, human services, community or public health, or government policy.
  • The candidate should have received at least basic training in Research Methods. Some research experience preferred.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to interact with supportive housing sponsors and supportive housing funders in Connecticut.
  • Be detail-oriented.
  • Have the ability to work independently.
  • Be proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • The candidate must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation.
