Executive Director, Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society
A growing nonprofit maritime heritage organization located in Seattle seeks a dynamic leader to assume a key role as the Executive Director. The Society's mission is to enhance lives by preserving and sharing the engaging maritime past of the Puget Sound region to better understand the present and envision the future. The Society was established in 1948 and has been the maritime affiliate of Seattle's Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) for a half century. Currently the Society is a partner with MOHAI in developing a new $ 40 million museum in the former Naval Reserve Armory at Lake Union Park in downtown Seattle. The Society maintains a maritime artifact, photograph, and ships plans collection, and a library at MOHAI. The Executive Director will manage daily operations, including volunteers; develop, implement and oversee all fundraising activities, including a $1 million to 2 million capital campaign; co-ordinate with other maritime organizations; and provide direct administrative support to the Foundation's volunteer board. The person selected will not only have a passion for maritime history, but have exceptional interpersonal and networking skills. Strong organizational skills, understanding of government relations, and excellent written/oral skills are required. Compensation is competitive.
