Trace Foundation - Communications Officer
Trace Foundation promotes the cultural continuity and sustainable development of Tibetain communities on the Tibetan plateau.
Job Purpose
The Communications Officer is primarily responsible for assisting the Director of Communications in the development and implementation of the Foundation’s communication strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Communications Strategy
- Assisting in the development and implementation of strategy for public engagement

Leading development and implementation of content strategy for the foundation’s website

Assisting in the development and implementation of editorial and branding strategies for all publications.

Identifying external contractors (designers, illustrators, developers, etc.) to assist in the completion of tasks, as needed
-
Ensuring that Trace Foundation’s communications are appropriately branded and on message
-
Producing and maintaining the foundation’s style guide
Development & Outreach
- Assisting in the creation and implementation of the foundation’s development strategies
-
Maintaining a portfolio of individual donors for stewardship, cultivation and solicitation
-
Ensuring and tracking regular communication with and recognition of donors and funders
-
Undertaking grant writing
-
Preparing press kits and write releases and articles to generate interest in the foundation across broadcast and print media
-
Assisting in the planning and production of public programming
-
Assembling and distributing the Foundation’s e-newsletter
-
Attending events related to the Foundation’s areas of interest
-
Monitoring news media for developments relevant to the Foundation’s areas of interest
-
Maintaining the foundation’s social media presence
Websites
- Coordinating design of the foundation’s website
-
Coordinating production and editing of all content for the foundation’s website
-
Soliciting internal and external contributions to the site
-
Maintain the foundation’s internal blog
-
Overseeing translations in partnership with relevant staff
Publications
- Drafting and/or editing all copy and stories for annual publications
- Soliciting external contributions for regular publications
-
Coordinating and overseeing design of all regular publications
-
Assisting in the layout of publications as needed
Skills Required:
- Strong demonstrated writing and editing skills (Chicago Manual of Style)
-
Strong oral-communication skills
-
Fluency in English
-
Experience with and strong understanding of Content Management Systems
-
Strong understanding of the Adobe Creative (Photoshop, inDesign, and Illustrator) and Microsoft Office Suites
-
Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
-
Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills
-
Ability to complete time-sensitive tasks promptly and thoroughly
-
Skilled in managing and completing multiple projects
-
Excellent organizational skills
-
Ability to interact effectively in a team setting
Skills Preferred
- Knowledge of Tibetan and/or Chinese a plus
-
Experience blogging or otherwise writing for the web
-
Experience with and knowledge of graphic design
-
Commitment to and understanding of Tibetan culture
-
Experience in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual environment
Education and Qualifications:

Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or graduate-level training preferred
-
Minimum 2 years job related experience in media, public relations, or corporate or non-profit communications
Occasional scheduled evening hours may be required
Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 + comprehensive benefit package Application Instructions
