Folger Shakespeare Library - Development Associate
Working closely with the Head of Development Operations and the Senior Development Officers for Major Gifts and Institutional Relations, the Development Associate supports the fundraising efforts of the Folger Shakespeare Library. The Development Associate will assist with grants, sponsorship proposals and other major gift solicitations, enter donor and prospect information into the database, and help prepare donor/prospect profiles and grant reports. Responsibilities also include screening new donors for wealth capacity, tracking event attendance, and maintaining web pages for the major gift and planned giving programs.
Full-time, non-exempt position, 8:45 am – 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday with additional hours as needed for evening receptions and other donor events. Salary DOE with excellent benefits. This position offers great opportunities for career growth in a collegial work environment and ideal location.
Education/Experience:
B.A. required. One years’ experience in development or fundraising, preferably in a cultural institution. Needed: excellent skills in data entry, organization, time management, writing, and interpersonal communication, as well as strong attention to accuracy and detail. Should have experience with donor or customer relations and be comfortable communicating with donors at events, on the phone, and via letters and emails. Experience in soliciting corporate gifts, proposal writing, prospect research and moves management, and/or editing web site content is a plus. Also required is the ability to perform well both with independent initiative and as part of a closely woven development team. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, WealthEngine, Magnet Mail, and HTML is highly desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
