Health Policy Fellow

For nearly 40 years, the National Women's Law Center (NWLC) has led the way in expanding possibilities for women and girls in the United States. NWLC uses the law in all its forms to protect and advance the progress of women and girls at work, in school, and in virtually every aspect of their lives. NWLC takes on the issues that cut to the core of women’s and girls’ lives in education, employment, family economic security, health and reproductive rights, with special priority given to the needs of low-income women and their families.

The Position

The National Women's Law Center is seeking a recent law, public policy or public health school graduate to work on health reform policy initiatives affecting women as a Health Fellow. This fellowship is available immediately and must begin no later than September 2013.

Description

As part of the Center’s work on women and health reform, the Health Fellow will work on a range of issues related to women’s access to health care, with particular emphasis on access to comprehensive and affordable health coverage for low-income women. Responsibilities will include gathering, analyzing and synthesizing research and data from a variety of sources; analyzing policy proposals; drafting reports and other written materials, and working with national and state-based coalitions on legislative and regulatory matters.

Qualifications

Law or Master’s degree required. Must have excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills; attention to detail; and a commitment to women's issues.

Compensation includes salary commensurate with comparable fellowships, four weeks of annual leave and excellent benefits.
