Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, an entrepreneurial arts council dedicated to the cultural life of Lower Manhattan for more than 30 years, seeks a full-time Executive Assistant to assist and support the President. LMCC is the leading voice for arts and culture in downtown New York City, producing cultural events and promoting the arts through grants, services, advocacy, and cultural development programs.

LMCC’s Mission: Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) is a private, non-profit organization that offers a broad range of public programs that help cultivate new arts audiences and improve the quality of urban life; and funding opportunities and support services for artists working in all artistic disciplines across Manhattan.

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council is committed to a policy of equal opportunity in all its activities and programs, including employment and promotion. Job responsibilities include:

The Executive Assistant position offers an excellent vantage point from which a budding nonprofit administrator can learn about the operation and management of a dynamic cultural organization from the perspective of the executive office.

The position requires interfacing with leaders from philanthropy, business, politics, and the arts, and provides a broad introduction to the political and cultural landscape of New York City and the relationship of the arts to the community as a whole. It is not an entry-level position however, and candidates should demonstrate a familiarity with arts, politics, and culture in New York City as well as an ability to manage multiple projects confidently and effectively in a busy office environment.
