Caregiver Support Services
The majority of disabled or elderly adults who are cared for at home receive their care exclusively from unpaid family members or friends. State of the States in Family Caregiver Support: A 50-State Study (executive summary, 4 pages, PDF; full document, 333 pages, PDF) examines the publicly funded caregiver support programs in all fifty states and the District of Columbia since 2000 and the passage of the
National Family Caregiver Support Program. A joint project of the
Family Caregiver Alliance and the National Conference of State Legislatures, the study provides state profiles, key findings, challenges and issues for the future, and a description of the distinct needs of family caregivers.
