Inclusiveness in Nonprofit Organizations A research report on nonprofits in metropolitan Denver, Inside Inclusiveness: Race, Ethnicity, and Nonprofit Organizations (executive summary, 7 pages, PDF), suggests best practices for becoming an inclusive organization, including recognition that people of color represent every socio-economic class and bring with them assets valuable in achieving the organization's mission; having a staff that is able to communicate with constituent groups and the public; and developing programs with an awareness of people from different cultural backgrounds. The report, prepared for the Denver Foundation's initiative to expand nonprofit inclusion, also discusses barriers to inclusiveness and provides case studies.
