The tsunami disaster in South Asia gives educators an opportunity to teach students about the affected countries and cultures, and to discuss the importance of humanitarian aid and how students can take part in relief efforts. Ask Asia supplies lesson plans with information on earthquakes and tsunamis, the geography of the region, and why the disaster had such a devastating impact. NetAid provides lesson plans and invites participation in its Student to Student Challenge, which asks students to create letters and drawings for children affected by the tsunami, and to devise a local fundraiser, the proceeds from which will be used by NetAid to help students in affected regions.
