Principles of Good Disaster Grantmaking
The report Disaster Grantmaking: A Practical Guide for Foundations and Corporations (42 pages, PDF) lists eight guiding principles, among them: First, do no harm your grant should contribute to the solution and not the problem; don't act in isolation; think beyond the immediate crisis to the long-term; and communicate your work widely to educate internal and external audiences about the disaster process. The report was published jointly by the Council on Foundations and the European Foundation Centre in November 2001.
