How Schools Hold Back the Brightest Students A Nation Deceived: How Schools Hold Back America's Brightest Students (vol. 1, summary of key points, 82 pages, PDF: vol. 2, scholarly support evidence, 190 pages, PDF) alerts policy makers, educators, and parents that schools are not doing enough to challenge academically precocious students and in some instances are preventing them from reaching their full potential. Funded by the John Templeton Foundation and developed by University of Iowa's Belin-Blank Center, the report discusses academic acceleration practices such as grade skipping, early entrance to college, single-subject acceleration, and advanced-placement courses, and it includes contributions from top researchers in the field.
