Woman-led businesses in Massachusetts are strong engines of economic growth, reports a
study
(25 pages, PDF) by Babson College and the Commonwealth Institute. The 237 companies surveyed generated more than $7.5 billion in 2003, and employed 25,288 people. Sixty-one percent expanded from 2002 to 2003; and 42 percent grew by more than 5 percent, far exceeding the national economic expansion rate.
