PND Connections - Advancement for Low-Wage Workers: A Series of Reports from Jobs for the Future
Boston-based Jobs for the Future, a nonprofit research, consulting, and advocacy group that works to strengthen society by creating educational and economic opportunity for those who need it most, has issued a series of reports on topics related to the problems of low-wage workers in a rapidly changing economy. A recent addition to the series, Earning While Learning: Maintaining Income While Upgrading Skills (15 pages, PDF), offers a review of programs and practices designed to maintain the income of low-wage workers seeking to acquire new skills and argues that unless the public sector invests more in job-training programs for entry-level workers, too many Americans will remain trapped in low-wage jobs.
