Philanthropy and Voluntarism
PND Connections - UPS Foundation's Best Practice Toolbox
Research conducted by the UPS Foundation shows that the primary reason volunteers stop volunteering is because nonprofits manage their time and talents poorly. To help nonprofits more effectively manage their volunteers, the foundation, in partnership with the Association for Volunteer Administration and the Points of Light Foundation, has created a Best Practice Toolbox that includes A Guide to Investing in Volunteer Resources Management: Improve Your Philanthropic Portfolio (20 pages, PDF), with best practices and strategies gleaned from more than fifty grantmakers, nonprofit leaders, and corporate executives, and Strategies for Effective Engagement of Volunteers, Second Edition (16 pages, PDF), which discusses such topics as collaboration, using technology, and attracting non-traditional volunteers.
