Philanthropy and Voluntarism

The Philanthropic and Nonprofit Knowledge Management Initiative at Grand State University's Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership has added a new topic area on Foundations and Grantmaking to its Nonprofit Good Practice Guide, an online resource for nonprofit managers. The section features preferred practices and pitfalls in the field, a review of current trends, and a glossary of terms. Visitors to the site can also perform a keyword search of nearly five hundred relevant articles, books, case studies, courses, worksheets, journals, newsletters, Web links, and more. Supported by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the guide provides information on nine other topics: accountability and evaluation; advocacy; communications and marketing; fundraising and financial sustainability; governance, management, and leadership; staff development and organizational capacity; technology; and volunteer management.
