PND Connections - The State of Stratospheric Ozone Depletion

In the three decades since scientists first identified ozone depletion in the upper atmosphere as a serious problem, significant progress has been made to protect the layer that shields the earth from the sun's ultraviolet radiation. But a report from the Global Environment & Technology Foundation argues that governments, businesses, and the public must do more to address the issue, including eliminating manmade products that harm the ozone layer. The State of Stratospheric Ozone Depletion (62 pages, PDF) examines how ozone affects the health of the planet, the scope of the ozone depletion problem, and the actions taken by the international community to address the problem. The report also documents current policies designed to mitigate ozone loss and illustrates how additional policies and incentives to encourage the use of ozone-safe products can help.
