Philanthropy and Voluntarism

Thanks to support from the James Irvine Foundation, whose mission is to expand opportunity for the people of California, the Foundation Center has announced that it will distribute throughout the state free copies of its first Spanish-language title, Guía para escribir propuestas (a translation of the Center's Guide to Proposal Writing, 3rd ed., written by fundraising professional Jane C. Geever). The Guía delivers effective instruction on both the basics and finer points of proposal writing and includes a list of fundraising assistance providers for native Spanish speakers. Single copies are available at the Foundation Center-San Francisco and selected Cooperating Collections in California. Recognizing the need for more nonprofit resources to serve the nation’s growing Latino population, the Foundation Center also offers a Spanish version of its proposal writing short course on its Web site.
