Arts, Culture and Humanities Grantmaking: Giving in Minnesota, 2012 Edition Funding for the arts by Minnesota grantmakers totaled $129.1 million in 2010, up some 20 percent on a year-over-year basis, following a cumulative decline of 18 percent between 2004 and 2009, a report from the Minnesota Council on Foundations finds. According to Arts, Culture and Humanities Grantmaking: Giving in Minnesota, 2012 Edition (2 pages, PDF), grantmaking for the arts increased across all funder types, led by the Target Foundation and Corporation, the Minneapolis Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, the Saint Paul and Minnesota Community foundations, and the 3M Foundation and Corporation. The report also found that as in previous years, support for the performing arts comprised the largest share of arts funding (47.6 million), while funding for museums jumped 76 percent on a year-over-year basis, to $24 million.
