At its June board meeting, the San Francisco-based James Irvine Foundation announced a new program area to inform understanding and decision-making regarding significant issues of long-term consequence to the State and its regions. Through support of research, analysis and communications, California Perspectives seeks to draw attention to key issues shaping the state, promote understanding, stimulate dialogue, and inform decision-making. As one of the new programs first activities, the foundation has posted the results of a survey conducted in partnership with the Public Policy Institute of California which examines public understanding and attitudes regarding the California budget crisis.
