Are foundations delivering adequate return on their social investments? A new study from the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, explores current foundation effectiveness activities at top foundations and the need for standard practices throughout the philanthropic sector. Underwritten by a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the report, Agile Philanthropy: Understanding Foundation Effectiveness (PDF, 92 pages), analyzes the existing literature on the subject and suggests key ways of moving effectiveness activities forward to improve the field.
