Magnum Foundation Emergency Fund The Magnum Foundation's Web site is featuring photo essays and videos illustrating the lives of HIV-positive girls in Swaziland (Krisanne Johnson), people who have been injured by landmines in Afghanistan (Larry Towell), and life in south Sudan ahead of the January 2011 referendum on secession (Cedric Gerbehaye). The foundation's Emergency Fund supports younger photographers committed to documenting social issues and engaging in long-term projects designed to highlight underreported or emerging humanitarian crises around the globe. Funded in part by Atlantic Philanthropies, Humanity United, the Open Society Foundations, Kickstarter, and PhotoShelter, the program relies on an independent editorial board to select ten to twenty photographers a year to receive help with fundraising for their projects.
