Journalism/Media

A Way Forward: Solving the Challenges of the News Frontier The Carnegie Corporation of New York has issued a report through the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education that discusses successful new entrepreneurial journalism models, many of which were considered improbable or impossible a few years ago. Based on a two-day journalism education summit convened by Carnegie at the Paley Center for Media in February, the report, A Way Forward: Solving the Challenges of the News Frontier (39 pages, PDF), offers commentary by news executives at Politico, the New York Times, and the Associated Press on how young journalists can succeed in the emerging media environment. In general, the summit's speakers advised their young colleagues to become comfortable using many media platforms; to stay closely — and almost constantly — connected to their audiences; and to not only gather and report the news but also look for new ways to disseminate and market it.
