Goodwill Donation Calculator
Goodwill Industries International and Levi Strauss & Co. recently launched the Donate Movement, a campaign to increase individuals' awareness of the positive impact of donating clothing and other items to Goodwill. As part of the campaign, Goodwill has made available a donation calculator that can be used to estimate the social benefits of donated clothing, household, and electronics items. According to the tool, donating thirty articles of clothing would fund more than four hours of a job search class for one person, while one working computer would fund nearly seven hours of a financial planning class. The Donate Movement Web site also draws attention to the environmental benfits of donating gently used goods by displaying a ticker that calculates the hundreds of millions of pounds of usable goods that Goodwill diverts from landfills every year.
