White House Energy Innovation Conference Summary Report
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has issued a report which summarizes the discussion that took place at the Energy Innovation Conference held at the White House in May. According to the White House Energy Innovation Conference Summary Report (21 pages, PDF), speakers such as National Economic Council deputy director Diana Farrell and Lesa Mitchell, vice president for advancing innovation at the Kauffman Foundation, recommended more support for the development of high-energy-density, low-cost batteries and other alternative energy storage solutions, as well as improved retention of human capital in the STEM fields; more investment in university research that values the production of processes and products rather than patents and papers; and concerted efforts to address barriers to alternative energy infrastructure development.
