2010 Corporate Citizenship Report
The Entrepreneurs and Silicon Valley Community foundations have issued a report that examines how and why Silicon Valley companies participate in philanthropic and community initiatives. Based on a survey of area companies, the 2010 Corporate Citizenship Report (40 pages, PDF) found that the average corporate contribution per company has increased to $100,000 from $80,000 in 2007, with health, human services, and education remaining primary funding areas. The report also found that 57 percent of area companies said they give more than $1 million annually to charitable causes; 64 percent said they believe corporate citizenship plays an important role in reputation building; and 82 percent said their overall corporate strategy includes sustainability efforts.
