Aging

2009 Retirement Confidence Survey According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute's 2009 Retirement Confidence Survey (24 pages, PDF), only 13 percent of workers say they are very confident they'll have enough money to retire comfortably — the lowest percentage since EBRI began conducting the survey in 1993 — while only 20 percent of retirees said they are very confident about having a financially secure retirement (down from 41 percent in 2007). The survey also found that 28 percent of workers said the age at which they expect to retire has changed in the past year, with the vast majority (89 percent) of respondents indicating that they plan to postpone retirement in order to improve their financial security.
