Entrepreneurship and Economic Recovery: America's Views on the Best Ways to Stimulate Growth According to a new report from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Americans feel strongly that the government should do more to encourage individuals to start businesses and create jobs. Based on a survey of about two thousand individuals, the report, Entrepreneurship and Economic Recovery: America's Views on the Best Ways to Stimulate Growth (30 pages, PDF), found that 63 percent of respondents would prefer that the government give individuals the incentives they need to start their own businesses, compared to 23 percent who would like to see the government create new jobs in the public or private sector. Furthermore, only 21 percent of respondents said they thought President Obama's economic stimulus package supports entrepreneurial activity overall, while 33 percent believe it will retard entrepreneurship.
