Arts and Culture

TempCheck The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance has released findings from its first TempCheck survey, which will be conducted quarterly to gauge the impact of the economy on the region's arts and culture nonprofits. The survey of ninety-two organizations of varying sizes found that while earned income from ticket sales, subscriptions, and memberships is holding steady, revenue from investments and other sources is trending downward. Overall, area arts organizations are not cutting back on their programming, but they are seeking ways to reduce program expenses, with 45 percent of respondents reporting that they have — or expect to — collaborate or consolidate operations with another organization. In addition, 42 percent of respondents said they believe that things are likely to get worse over the next six months, while only 10 percent said they feel things are likely to get better.
