Turning Crisis Into Opportunity: How the California Community Foundation Is Helping its Grantees and Other Nonprofits Prepare for Uncertain Economic Times The California Community Foundation, which has seen the value of its assets fall by about $350 million during the market meltdown, has released a report that examines how the foundation is helping local nonprofits weather the recession. According to the report, Turning Crisis Into Opportunity: How the California Community Foundation Is Helping Its Grantees and Other Nonprofits Prepare for Uncertain Economic Times (7 pages, PDF), 74 percent of respondents expect to see a decline in corporate funding in the next six months, 72 percent expect to see a decline in individual donations, and 67 percent expect a decline in foundation funding. At the same time, 66 percent expect an increase in demand for their services. To help nonprofits weather the storm, CCF is hosting workshops, offering technical assistance, and providing low- or no-cost training in strategic planning while expediting grant renewals for its top-performing grantees.
