The Financial Crisis and Global Health
The World Health Organization has released a new report that outlines ways that the global economic crisis may affect health funding and outcomes around the world and encourages continued investment in health by the global community. The report, The Financial Crisis and Global Health (18 pages, PDF), also identifies actions that can help mitigate the worst effects of the downturn, including supporting policy efforts on behalf of universal coverage, reducing overlap and duplication within health agencies, and monitoring and analyzing economies and public health systems around the globe to determine which countries are suffering the most as result of the meltdown.
