Mott Foundation ASO Reports According to two new Charles Stewart Mott Foundation-funded reports on alternative staffing organizations (ASOs), temporary staffing programs can help low-income workers succeed in the labor market while meeting the needs of local employers. The reports, A Foot in the Door: Using Alternative Staffing Organizations to Open Up Opportunities for Disadvantaged Workers (55 pages, PDF), and Brokering Up: The Role of Temporary Staffing in Overcoming Labor Market Barriers (66 pages, PDF), found that ASOs can help low-income workers obtain an immediate source of income, gain entry into certain companies or occupations, and build an employment track record. At the same time, employers served by ASOs reported that the programs provide them with workers who are better supported and prepared to perform reliably.
