Internet Overtakes Newspapers as News Source
The Internet has now surpassed all other media except television as a preferred source for national and international news, a new report from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press finds. The report, Internet Overtakes Newspapers as News Source (7 pages, PDF), found that 40 percent of Americans who responded to a recent Pew poll said they get most of their news about national and international issues from the Internet, up from 24 percent in September 2007, while television, at 70 percent, continues to be the most popular source for such news. At the same time, a majority (59 percent) of Americans under the age of 30 said they relied equally on television and the Internet for national and international news.
