Education

Boston's Education Pipeline Report Card The Boston Foundation's Indicators Project has released a report which finds that although the city's public education system has improved, there's much more to do. According to the report, Boston's Education Pipeline: A Report Card (115 pages, PDF), the system is not sufficiently robust enough to redress disadvantages faced by many of the city's most vulnerable children — for example, 29 percent of children under the age of four in the metro region live in poverty, while almost 50 percent live in households in which English is not the primary language spoken. The city also has seen little improvement in its high school graduation and drop-out rates over the past five years, with only 60 percent of students graduating on time.
