Planting a Seed: Foundations Build Communities with Shared Nonprofit Workspace
The NonprofitCenters Network has released a new report on the benefits and challenges faced by foundations in creating mission-focused office facilities for themselves and other nonprofits. Funded by the Tides Shared Spaces initiative, the report, Planting a Seed: Foundations Build Communities with Shared Nonprofit Workspace (36 pages, PDF), includes profiles of seventeen successful shared facility projects across the country, including the Center for Healthy Communities/the California Endowment, the YouthVille Detroit/Detroit Youth Foundation, and the John S. and James L. Knight Nonprofit Center/Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The report also provides advice on planning, financing, construction, and operations for organizations looking to pursue their own shared facility project.
