Climate Change Policy as Economic Stimulus: Evidence and Opportunities From the States
If properly implemented, climate change mitigation policies could provide the country with numerous economic benefits, a new report from the Center for Climate Strategies, a project of Enterprising Environmental Solutions, argues. The report, Climate Change Policy as Economic Stimulus: Evidence and Opportunities From the States (27 pages, PDF), examines twenty U.S. states that have begun implementing multi-sector greenhouse gas reduction plans and finds that a climate plan involving all states and economic sectors could result in a cumulative savings of $535.5 billion between 2009 and 2020. Indeed, such a plan has the potential to increase employment, income, and investment, thus contributing to national economic recovery. EES is funded in part by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
