Lessons From a Communications Campaign for South Africa's Rural Poor A new report from Atlantic Philanthropies shares lessons from the foundation's initiative to raise awareness among government officials, media, and the general public about the plight of farm dwellers in South Africa. The second offering from the Atlantic Reports series, What We've Learned: Lessons From a Communications Campaign for South Africa's Rural Poor (36 pages, PDF) describes the planning and execution of Atlantic's communications and advocacy efforts in that country from 2004 to 2006 and how those involved are applying the lessons learned to their ongoing work. The report also explains the continuing challenges of responding to rural poverty in South Africa and explores ways in which grantmakers can influence systemic change.
