PND Connections - Nonprofits, NTAPs, and Information Technology Nonprofits clearly recognize the importance of technology within their own organizations and for the sector as a whole, according to a new report from the Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network, an organization that supports nonprofit technology assistance providers. Based on a survey of seventy nonprofits that participated in technology projects in 2002, Nonprofits, NTAPs and Information Technology (18 pages, PDF) finds that nearly 90 percent of nonprofits agree that technology has helped them reach more people, while 95 percent of respondents believe they are better able to achieve their mission because of a recent technology project. In addition to information on nonprofits' attitudes toward technology, the report discusses the nature of nonprofit technology projects — network installation and troubleshooting and Web design being the most common — and the need to help organizations raise funds explicitly for technology-related expenses.
